Needless to say it has made his enemies, some of them his colleagues in Congress party, go green with jealousy.

However, his induction into the Cabinet has given a new boost to the Congress in the Kolar district.

K H Muniyappa has been representing Kolar constituency, that includes Shidlaghatta too after the delimitation, for the past 18 years.

A lawyer before entering into politics, Muniyappa started his political career by being elected as the vice-president to Shidlaghatta taluk panchayat contesting as a Congress candidate. Soon he became an office bearer of State Youth Congress committee. His first entry into Lok Sabha was in 1991 through his election from Kolar reserved constituency.

Muniyappa faced several hurdles in his political career, especially the trouble members who jumped from ABPJD to Congress  created for him.

This group had even had taken to streets and lobbied at Delhi to prevent him from getting a ticket even. However after the party high-command gave him a ticket, the group went all out to defeat him. They even declared support to D S Veeraiah, candidate from BJP who was his rival.

Strangely despite all the tricks employed by the enemies fell flat when encountered with Muniyappa’s political strategies and he gave a fitting reply by winning for the sixth time.

Now, with his induction into the Cabinet for the second term his political opponents will find it difficult to be comfortable in the party. Already it has been recommended to KPCC to expel former Agriculture minister Srinivas Gowda and his associates for their anti-party activities.

They have no other go but to exit on their own. Muniyappa’s induction into Cabinet is also expected to lead a polarisation of a different kind in the district Congress.
