Minister for Information Technology, Biotechnology and Tourism, Priyank Kharge, on Saturday, said, the preparation for Mysuru Dasara-2017 will begin shortly.

Speaking to reporters after chairing a meeting to discuss about development of the tourism sector at the Deputy Commissioner’s office, here, he said, the authorities have decided to start the preparations for Dasara well in advance to make the event a grand success, without any hurdles.

“The promotion and publicity activities would commence in another 45 days. All stakeholders should submit a list of their demands and calendar of events within three weeks. Measures will also be taken to promote the tourism sector in and around Mysuru,” he said.

“This Dasara, the authorities, along with private partners, have decided to celebrate Yoga and Tourism Day in Mysuru. Such events will only increase the footfall to the heritage city. The authorities are planning to introduce Mysuru City App on the lines of Bengaluru City App for the benefit of tourists. The app would have almost all details of the heritage city, including, history and hotels,” the minister informed.

3D projection

The authorities are chalking out plans for 3D projection on the Mysuru Palace, following the overwhelming response for a similar initiative on the Town Hall building during previous Dasara, said Kharge.

Open street fest

Kharge said, following an overwhelming response to the open street festival in Bengaluru, a few traders are demanding for similar street festival in Mysuru. “We are planning to organise the event,” he said.

Golf tournament

In order to promote homestays, the authorities are planning to organise amateur golf tournaments at places such as Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu, Bengaluru and Mysuru. “Golf clubs will be developed in these places. The process to promote ‘Aero Sports’ in Mysuru is underway. Several projects will be taken up once the masterplan is ready on Krishna Raja Sagar (KRS),” Kharge said.
