Mysuru division has earned Rs 307 crore so far this year: DRM

The Mysuru division of South Western Railway (SWR) has conserved more than five lakh litres of diesel, valued at about Rs 2.61 crore, by judicious shutting down of locomotives, Divisional Railway Manager Rajkumar Lal said here on Friday.

Wind and solar hybrid projects for generation of power and solar lighting of stations and level-crossing gates for conservation of energy were priority areas for the division, he added.

In the first seven months of the current financial year, Lal said, the gross earnings of the division stood at Rs 307.88 crore, up by 4.84 per cent over the corresponding period last year.

Earnings in both passenger and freight segments had shown a positive growth compared with last year, he added.

The total number of passengers carried so far in the current year was 2.91 crore, an increase of 3.15 per cent over the last year.
