Mysuru girl aims for world record in Yoga today

Kushi to attempt 13-plus Back Plank Recline Cruncher in minute

A city-based 14-year-old girl is aiming big and is all set to create a world record in Yoga on Sunday.

H Kushi, a class IX student of St Joseph’s Central School, also a winner in international yoga competitions, will demonstrate ‘Back Plank Recline Cruncher’ as part of her attempt for the world record.

Kushi, daughter of S Hemachandra and H Kumuda, has been practicing yoga since four years. She developed interest in performing Back Plank Recline Cruncher after seeing a video of an American yogic Kenilhi Ebina. Kushi will make an attempt to perform the procedure more than 13 times in a minute, said Hemachandra. Kushi will perform at the Community Hall, in Note Mudran Nagar, in Mysuru, in the presence of a large number of audience, including, people’s representatives and government officials.

Kushi has already won several medals in national and International level yoga competitions. She has won the silver medal in the 40th national Yoga Sports Championship held in 2015-16 and has also secured the fourth place in Solo Artistic.

The little champ has secured two gold medals at Shanghai First International Yoga invitation tournament held in China in 2014.

She won two silver medals in the sixth Asian Yoga Sports Championship held in Vietnam in September 2016.
She secured first place in national level yoga competition, organised by Panduranga Patanjali Yoga Shikshana Kendra in August 2014, in Mysuru. She has also bagged three medals in All India Yogasana Championship 2016, organised by Krishna Yoga Association. Kushi clinched a gold medal in ‘Forward Bending Asana’, silver medals in ‘Combination Asana’ and ‘Leg and Hand Balance’. She also participated in Yuva Dasara yoga event.

Kushi has been selected for the seventh Asian Yoga Sports Championship scheduled to be held at Singapore by virtue of her performances at state and national levels.

Kushi has won several awards such as ‘Yoga Praveene’, ‘Karnataka Kalashree’, ‘District Youth Award’, ‘Yoga Kesari’, Mysore Rathna’, SadanaRathna’, ‘Best Exceptional Achievement’ and ‘Yoga Rathna’.
