No threat to coalition govt, says Deve Gowda

Last Updated 24 December 2018, 20:08 IST

JD(S) national president and former prime minister H D Deve Gowda on Monday said the coalition government was stable and dismissed any threat to the ruling alliance headed by his son H D Kumaraswamy, after the recent Cabinet rejig.

“Nothing will happen. The coalition government will work efficiently,” he told reporters here.

Kumaraswamy, last week, had expanded his seven-month-old Cabinet, inducting eight members from the Congress, while dropping two ministers.

‘Decision soon’

The Cabinet reshuffle was marked by rumblings of dissidence, as many senior Congress MLAs were upset over their
exclusion.

The JD(S) was not part of the Cabinet expansion.

Asked when JD(S) will fill the two vacant slots under its quota, Gowda said, “JD(S) is a small party. We will take a decision soon”.

‘Just a matter of time’

In another part of Bengaluru, KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao said every Cabinet expansion and reshuffle would have repercussions.

“For a few days, there will be some emotional reactions, but it is just a matter of time before everything is resolved,” he said.

Rao also ruled out the possibility of disgruntled MLAs quitting the
party.
