Now, traffic offenders can pay fine at Mysore One

Last Updated 30 April 2016, 17:55 IST

Henceforth you can pay penalty for violation of traffic rules at Mysore One centres, too.

Announcing this to the media on Saturday, Police Commissioner B Dayananda said, “Unlike the existing system, where the offenders pay the fine amount on the spot or at police stations for the notices served at their doorsteps, the Police department, in association with the Department of e-governance, has launched the new initiative. However, the violators will have to pay the fine along with a service charge of Rs 5.”

In Mysuru, provision is made to pay fine at Mysore One centres in Siddhartha Layout, Ramakrishna Nagar, Krishnamurthypuram, New Seshadri Iyer Road, Gokulam and Nazarbad. The commissioner said it was a prelude to the plans to make provisions to pay fine through the official website of the city police. Besides, one can check the number of violations by entering his or vehicle number on the site.

Project Manager, e-governance department, Bengaluru, Shashidhar Sarangmath, said, “Now, people can pay fine either through cash or demand draft (drawn in favour of Mysore One payable in Mysuru). If not the challan, the offenders can provide the registration number of the vehicles to gather data on the nature of fine and amount. Plans are afoot to make provisions to pay fine through debit or credit cards at Mysore One centres.”

The officer exuded confidence that the people will be benefited, with many already paying water and electricity bills, besides obtaining other services at Mysore One centres. In Bengaluru, the system was introduced 10 years ago and is running without any hiccups.

Barring Independence Day, Republic Day, Labour Day and holidays as declared by Election Commission of India on account of voting, the centres will be open on the remaining days. The services will be available from 8 am to 7 pm. Centres located here
