The Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited (KSDL) is now debt-ridden, but can flourish with everyone’s help. All of us should lend a hand to bring the famed government soap factory to the pinnacle of success, said District In-charge Minister A Narayanaswamy.

He was speaking after inaugurating the soap fair organised by KSDL at the Vokkaligara Bhavan in the city on Thursday.

“The Government is working hard to help the company survive and develop. The people too should play their role by purchasing products of KSDL,” the minister said.

Shivananda Naik, chairman of KSDL, who spoke on the occasion, said the company had organised the soap fest to market the products as well as spread information among the customers.

“The fest has been organised district level and will be next organised at taluk level in the coming days. This will help widen the market of the products to the residents of villages,” Naik added.

“Mysore Sandal Soap is prepared using pure sandal oil. Since demand for the soap is on the rise, farmers are encouraged to grow sandal. People are also encouraged to grow sandal saplings in their house gardens,” he explained.

Legislator K P Bachegowda, member of Legislative Council Y A Narayanaswamy, KSDL managing director M K Baladevakrishna, Deputy Commissioner Dr N Manjula, Zilla Panchayat president Chinnappaiah, vice-president B Savithramma, standing committee president Manjula and others were present.
