Parents lock classrooms, protest on school premises in Kolar

Parents of various wards studying in Government Urdu Higher Primary School at Juhalli in Kolar taluk, flocked the school premises, locked the classrooms and staged a protest on Saturday morning.

They were protesting against the ineffecient functioning of the school staff which was posing problems to students.

The parents alleged that the Headmaster, Sheikh Fayazuddin never arrived on time to the school and yet he signed the attendance register.

The matter was disclosed during inspections conducted by the school officials. The ration for the preparation of food was never distributed in time and the cooking staff were yet to get their salaries which were due for the last three months, they alleged.

No discipline

There was neither any discipline nor decorum in the school and the children were made to suffer without infrastructure and other facilities.

The parents alleged that they had complained to the officials of the Department of Public Instruction several times, but it had not yielded any results.

Hence, upset and disappointed, the parents were left with no other option but to lock the school premises and sit on a dharna, they added.

More than 25 students and four teachers - Shameemunnissa, C V Gayathri, Allah Bakash and Yunus Khan - were made to wait outside the classrooms.

Several parents, Chairman of Jumma Masjid Inayatullah Baig, Sayyad Nurullah, Mustafa, Sayyad Hali, Sayyad Afees, Sayyad Bakash, Sheikh Fayaz and Basha took part in the protest.
