‘Parjanya Homa’ performed for rains in Chikkamagaluru

‘Parjanya Homa’ was performed at Ballaleshwara Swamy Temple near Ayyanakere in Kadur taluk.

The sacred fire ritual is meant for rains. The final offering (Poornahuti) will be done on August 6.

Lakshminarayana Homa and Rudrabhisheka were held on Sunday. Devotees including MLA C T Ravi took part.

Ballaleshwara Temple Seva Samiti President S K Kalmarudappa said that the villagers collect the amount for the expenses of ‘Parjanya Homa.’ The ritual is being performed during the Shravana Masa every year, he added.

Committee Vice President Krishnaswamy Nayak said that the religious rituals as a part of ‘Parjanya Homa’, initiated on August 2 included Ganapathy Puja, Punyaha Sankalpa, Rudrabhisheka, Ganapati Puraskara Poornahuti, Chandika Homa, Kannika Puja, Sumangali Puja, Dampati Puja, Mrityunjaya Homa, Rudrabhisheka, Ritvik Puja, Acharya Puja and so on.
