Continuing the special drive against violation of rules by autorickshaws, City police also focused on autorickshaws ferrying school children on Monday, and seized 98 autorickshaws.
Police checked autorickshaws near schools, and verified documents. Police and RTO personnel checked 164 autorickshaws, and seized 98 autorickshaws for not having permits.
DCP (Crime & Traffic) B S Nemagouda and other officials led the drive.
A total of 39 autorickshaws were seized on Sunday. Booking 791 cases of traffic rules violation, Rs 91,600 fine amount was also collected.
2 held for murder
Cracking a murder case, APMC-Navanagar police arrested two persons including the wife of the deceased.
The arrested have been identified as Shabana Ayatti of Bulldozer Nagar and Bashasab Dharwad of Toravihakkal. They had illegitimate relationship, and they murdered Shabana's husband Mohammad Rafiq Ayatti (40), for objecting their relationship, police said.
Ayatti was found murdered in the fields on Maradagi road near Bhairidevarakoppa recently, and a case was registered with APMC-Navanagar Police Station.
House theft
Thieves made away with 76 gm gold ornaments worth Rs 2.25 lakh, and Rs 1.75 lakh cash from a locked house at Kulkarni Hakkal.
The house belongs to Shrinivas Karnul, and thieves entered the locked house by breaking the door-lock open. A case has been registered with the Town Police Station.
