Last Updated 05 June 2009, 17:10 IST

He was presiding over the progress review meeting, organised at the TP auditorium in Bagepalli on Friday.

Sampangi said, stringent action will be taken against any officials who are said to be un-co-operative and not willing to work for the welfare of the taluk. Disciplinary action will be taken against such officials who fail to undertake any responsibilities and fail to work honestly, the legislator warned.

The MLA took to task Town Municipal Council’s chief officer Venkatesh by questioning the capacity of the overhead tanks which supply drinking water to the taluk. The chief officer fumbled and informed the meeting that about 10 litres of water could be stored in the overhead tanks. To this, the MLA retorted back saying that he had asked about the capacity of the overhead tanks and not the pvc tanks. Coming to the aid of the chief officer, TMC Engineer Chandrashekhar explained about the capacity of the overhead tanks, water supply methods and other details.

Reserve funds

The legislator expressed his anger against the TMC for not sanctioning reserve funds for the underground drainage system.

He alleged that the TMC had failed in executing the town plan. Taking the TMC officials to task, he said, it was the responsibility of the TMC to undertake any task, after keeping the elected representatives informed about it.

He said, Overhead tanks should be constructed for only for storage of water from Chitravathi river, he instructed. Apart from this, Sampangi also discussed about the various schemes of the Education department, Social Welfare department and Bisi Oota schemes, etc, and asked the officials concerned to set right the anomalies in these schemes.

Taluk Panchayat president Ashwathappa, Vice-President Raveendra Reddy, tahsildar Roopashri, Executive Officer B Srinivas, Zilla Panchayat Assistant Executive Engineer Nagappa  and others were present.
