‘Sardar statue is poll stunt of Modi’

Leader of the Congress party in Lok Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, charged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was using ‘Statue of Unity’ for electoral gains. Speaking to reporters in Hubballi on Wednesday, Kharge said, “Modi has suddenly started speaking about Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, but we are paying him the respects during H-K Liberation Day event in Kalaburagi for the past 15 years,” Kharge said. Patel was the home minister in Nehru’s Cabinet. It is not correct to undermine a person while highlighting another person, he said.
