Khadi-crazy citizens in the district are all smiles. The khadi festival, which is being organised by the Karnataka State Khadi and Rural Employment Board, with an aim to promote popularity and sales of khadi products, started on Friday, and will continue till January 1.

Variety

There are kurta-pyjamas, warm clothing, dresses for children and other khadi products- chappals too- displayed at the stalls. There are even discounts up to 25 and 35 per cent for certain products and clothes.

Organisations from more than 30 towns and villages are participating in the festival. Khadi dresses, silk sarees, blankets, shawls and everyday equipment were among things on display at the stalls on Friday. Old stamps as well as posters of Mahatma Gandhi and Kuvempu were put up at the festival.

Speaking on the occasion, K Nagaraj, chief executive officer of the Board, said, “Similar khadi fests are being organised in district and taluk centres and the public response is excellent. We therefore expect Chikkaballapur people too to support the fest in the same way.”
