Ahead of Mysuru Dasara, the Dasara Darshana Sub-Committee, in association with Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) and Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), has come up with an initiative to introduce the palaces in the heritage city to tourists.

‘Palace on Wheels’, a special and exclusive bus tour that takes people to all famous palaces in and around Mysuru, will be launched soon. The initiative would be launched much before the commencement of the 406th edition of Dasara. According to the authorities, Palace on Wheels would be launched immediately after a final decision is taken about the package. It will wind up two or three days before the commencement of Dasara on October 1.

The initiative is planned as a majority of the visitors to the city are unaware that Mysuru is home for many other palaces.  As per the plan, a day-long tour will commence from Mysuru Palace at 10 am and conclude after visiting Aloka Palace located near Yelwal on the outskirts of the city, in the evening, every day.

At noon, the visitors will be taken to Lalitha Mahal Palace, where the royal food will be served. KSTDC will make food arrangements at affordable prices. The charges for the package tour is yet to be finalised and it would come around Rs 800, including food, entry charges to palaces, and bus fare.

KSRTC Mysuru Divisional Controller (Urban) K Ramamurthy said, “Volvo buses will be put to service to ferry tourists and will be taken to nine palaces in and around the city. The authorities will provide all the details about the particular palace on their visit.”

According to the authorities, the tour would continue during Dasara if it is possible and the buses will be allotted as per the demand from the people.
