SWR Mysuru division registers Rs 307.88 crore revenue, says DRM

The South Western Railway (SWR), Mysuru division, has generated a overall revenue of Rs 307.88 crore, including passengers and freights, till October, when compared to the corresponding period previous year the rise is 4.84 per cent, said Divisional Railway Manager Rajkumar Lal.

Addressing a meeting of Divisional Railway Users’ Consultative Committee (DRUCC), at his office on Friday, Lal said “Even when there was an unprecedented slump in Indian railways, the Mysuru division has carried a total of 291.47 lakh (up by 3.15 per cent) passengers as against 282.56 lakh during October last’.

Lal mentioned that the division was determined to check the menace of ticketless travel with massive drives at regular intervals. Over 250 such checks have been conducted so far netting a penalty revenue of Rs 2.74 crore from over 92,000 cases.

The division had taken up a number of measures for upgrading the amenities at stations and also on trains. The creation of facilities for navigation of visually challenged persons, commissioning of Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVM) and installation of two unmanned and fully automated toilets with self cleaning capabilities at Mysuru railway station were some of the major achievements of the division, he added.

While various passenger amenity works proposed in 2015-16 and much before that, are being pursued and will be executed in a time bound manner. Cleanliness both at station and on trains are in the focus. A clean and green concept ‘by expanding green cover in railway station premises was another target area.

The committee members also suggested introduction of more train services, new infra projects like Road Under Bridge (RUB) and Road Over Bridge (ROB), speedy completion of ongoing civil works to ease congestion, provision of additional stoppages for superfast/express trains, etc.

Additional Divisional Railway Manager P Ram,  Senior Divisional Commercial Manager K Anil Kumar and other branch officers were present in the meeting.
