Theft accused dies in police custody

An alleged custodial death case was reported in Mandya city on Friday.

Murthy, the accused was lodged at the Mandya West Police station.

He was accused in a theft case and is reported to have died in the lockup.

Mandya Superintendent of Police G Radhika claimed that Murthy committed suicide by hanging.

As the news of death spread, members of some organizations staged a protest near the police station.
