This is not my last election: Deve Gowda

This is not my last election: Deve Gowda

Former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda has said that the ensuing Lok Sabha polls will not be his last election. He was speaking at an election rally in Ombatthane Mailikallu in Kadur taluk on Saturday.

“I will not rest until a pro - agriculturist government comes to power in the Centre,” he said.“The Congress will not come to power in the centre. Narendra Modi, who has failed to safeguard the interests of the people of Gujarat, can not become the Prime Minister,” he said.

He said that there is favourable atmosphere for the Third Front to form the government in the centre. “Mulayam, Mayavathi or I can become the Prime Minister. Though my role in the making of the government is in the hands of the God, no one can become the Prime Minister without me,” he challenged.

“I will ensure that the government will give priority to drinking water in every village.  I will not care for the statements issued by Chief Minister. The farmers who cultivate paddy had not asked the State government to distribute rice at Re 1/kg.

It is not enough to waive off the loans borrowed by the farmers. The Central government should bear the crop loss incurred by the farmer. I will take the responsibility of presenting a budget which will raise the standard of the poor people of the country,” Gowda said.

MLA Y S V Datta alleged that the Chief Minister, who had declared Kadur taluk as drought-hit, has not released funds to take up relief work. “Water should be supplied to Kadur taluk from Yagachi, Bhadra, Hemavathi or Hebbehalla,” he said.
