VHP, BJP protest against Kerala CM's visit

Last Updated 24 February 2017, 18:35 IST

As a precursor to the hartal call against Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s visit and his address at a communal harmony rally at Nehru Maidan here on Saturday, the members of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Hindu Jagarana Vedike, BJP and other pro-Hindu organisations staged a protest demonstration here on Friday.

The protesters took out a protest march from Ambedkar Circle to Nehru Maidan and raised slogans against Vijayan.

A number of members of Right Wing organisations from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Kasargod and Kerala too took part in the protest.

Addressing the protesters, Kerala BJP unit Secretary Surendran charged that there has been a rise in political murders sponsored by the state government in Kerala from 2016. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has been supporting the political murders by CPM workers.

They CPM are not only murdering members of Hindu organisations, but also Congress workers, members of Mata Amritanandamayi Mutt, SNDP and all those who are opposed to the ideologies of their party, he alleged.

Kerala BJP state committee member Kuntaru Ravish Tantri said, “Pinarayi is one of the accused in a murder case in Kerala. We need not learn communal harmony lessons from him. We are ready to stall his address at any cost.”

“Like Jammu and Kashmir, there is a sense of insecurity among Hindus in Kerala. About 262 murders that took place in Kerala, 104 murders were committed by the CPM workers. About 85 murder cases have taken place in Kerala after Pinarayi Vijayan came to power,” he claimed.

VHP Dakshina Prantha working president Prof M B Puranik, district BJP unit president Sanjeeva Matandoor, Bajrang Dal leader Sharan Pumpwell and others were
present.

MPs Nalin Kumar Kateel, Shobha Karandlaje, MLA Sunil Kumar, BJP leaders Krishna Palemar, Nagaraj Shetty, MLC Kota Srinivas Poojary, former MLAs Yogish Bhat, Raghupathi Bhat and others took part in the protest.
