Water scarcity: TMC office picketed

The protesters alleged that Indiranagar extension in the ward has not been getting water for the last five months. Councillor from the ward B N Rajaram said the municipal authorities have failed to initiate any action in spite of repeated complaints and requests.

He said the residential area also suffers from lack of basic infrastructure such as road, drainage and streetlight. Majority of the residents in the area are coolie workers and leave their houses to eke out livelihood early in the day.

Irregular supply

The supply through tankers too has been irregular. Though a borewell has been sunk in the ward for drinking water, the supply has been irregular due to poor distribution. The borewell sunk near the railway station under State Finance Commission grants too has not been functioning, he said. Earlier, the protesters took out a march in the town.

TMC president Gulabjan, vice president A Rajappa and others promised to solve the issue in three days. The protest was withdrawn after the residents were assured that water would be supplied through tankers immediately.
