While some shops in the town remained closed, the price of commodities had hit the nadir with no buyers. The town has a direct relationship with the politics and culture of Andhra Pradesh.

Most of the vegetables transacted at the Agricultural Produces Marketing Committee yard in the town goes to neighbouring Andhra Pradesh. But the yard wore a deserted look with no buyers. Farmers though sold tomatoes at Rs 5 to Rs 8 per kg to the local traders, considerable quantity of the produce remained unsold.

The people of the town have seen Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy from proximity, who had visited the town to campaign for Congress candidate in elections to Lok Sabha and State Assembly.

Thousands of people had assembled when Reddy came to town to campaign in favour of N Sampangi.  Dr Rajasekhar Reddy was instrumental in the election of Veerappa Moily to the Parliament.
