Need no hospitality lessons from Thammanna: Sumalatha

The JD(S) leaders have continued to target Sumalatha, wife of late former minister Ambareesh who is touring the district eliciting the opinion of the Congress leaders and the people, ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

Transport Minister D C Thammanna passed remarks taunting Sumalatha in Maddur on Thursday. “Has Sumalatha ever interacted with the people visiting her house, when Ambareesh was minister and MLA? Had she shown any interest in knowing their problems? Has she ever offered them a glass of water? Now, taking Ambareesh’s name, she is talking about developing the district. Nobody is ready to believe her,” he said.

Sumalatha, who concluded her first round of Mandya tour in Malavalli on Thursday, hit out at Thammanna saying, “Thammanna’s family should tell as to how many times he had visited our house and had food. I do not have to say about how Thammanna was, when Ambareesh was alive. People know about it. Ambareesh used to treat guests round-the-clock and I will follow suit. I don’t have to learn the lessons of hospitality from Thammanna” she said.

Speaking about actors Darshan and Yash, Sumalatha said, “They are like my sons. Darshan is like my elder son and will be with me always. He will canvass for me whenever he is free. There is no party or leaders behind me. People of Mandya are my strength, she said.
