DySP, PSI, jeep driver killed in ghastly Bagalkot accident

Three people including a deputy superintendent of police (DySP) were killed on the spot, in a ghastly road mishap occurred on Wednesday late night.

The deceased are CID DySP Bale Gowda (55), CID PSI K H Shivaswamy (55) and jeep driver Venugopal (25)--all three policemen. They were killed when a truck collided with their police jeep head-on at Kudala Sangama Cross in Bagalkot taluk at around 12.30 am.

All three policemen were on the election security detail that night. They were killed on their way to Bagalkot where they were temporarily posted from Thursday to end of assembly elections on May 12.

Bagalkot Superintendent of Police Vamshi Krishna, DySP Girish and other senior police officers visited the scene of the accident.

DySP Bale Gowda was a resident of Kottigepalya in Bengaluru. PSI K H Shivaswamy was a resident of Chamarajanagar and driver Venugopal was also a resident of Bengaluru.

DySP Bale Gowda who was earlier Tumakuru and Kunigal Circle Inspector, was recently given a promotion as DySP (CID).
