Experts visit Bellary mines over R&R plan

 A five-member team from the Indian Council for Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE) visited mining areas in Ramgad in the district to examine the possibilities of reclamation and rehabilitation (R&R) of the areas ravaged by mining. 

The team, headed by senior environment scientist Ramarao, will formulate a plan for R&R measures and submit it to the Central Empowered Committee (CEC) formed by the Supreme Court. 

The Deputy Director of Mines and Geology department, Udayakumar, and Range Forest Officer Ganesh gave requisite information to the team. The team is expected to visit the TML mining areas on Wednesday.

Aerial survey 

The staff from Remote Sensing Agency will arrive in Bellary on Wednesday to conduct aerial survey as well as digital global positioning survey of ‘C’ category mines, at the request of the State government, sources said.
