Farmer suicides in Bagalkot, Shivamogga

Two farmers committed suicide while one made an attempt on his life in the State on Friday. Thimmanagouda Yamanappagouda Chintakamaladinni (45) hung himself from a tree at Nandavadagi village in Hungund taluk of Bagalkot district.

He had sown onion on his 3-acre land and the crop failed as theborewell in his land dried up. He is said to have borrowed Rs four lakh from private  persons.

Sixty-year-old Basavannyappa hung himself from a tree in Gudavi village of Sorab taluk in Shivamogga district. He is said to have borrowed Rs 40,000 from a bank and Rs two lakh from moneylenders.

Ramesh, a farmer from Gondibeedu in Bhadravathi taluk of Shivamogga district who attempted suicide on Friday, is being treated at a private hospital. He is said to have loans of Rs 45 lakh.
