Four bodies arrive in Dharwad

Manjunath Ghanti (13), Mahabaleshwar Ningappa Gudakatti (20), Manjunath Kaded (26) and Shivaningayya Shivayya Murgodmath (15) were killed in the stampede at Pulmedu, Kerala during their Sabarimala pilgrimage. A jeep, which ploughed into Aiyyappa devotees caused panic and triggered the stampede. Among the four, Manjunath Ghanti and Mahabaleshwar Gudakatti belong to one family.

The bodies were sent to the victims’ houses after post mortem at the government hospital in Kumily, Iddukki district of Kerala. The death of young men in the tragedy had cast a pall of gloom on the village. People came in large numbers to pay their last respects.

The body of Manjunath Kanakammanavar, a resident of Keshwapur in Hubli, another victim, was brought to the City in an ambulance on Sunday evening. The last rites were performed at the Keshwapur crematorium.  The family memers and relatives of the Manjunath gathered in large number and mourned his death.
