Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy said that his government was considering the proposal to increase the tax on plastic products by four to five percent, in order to reduce the use of plastic in the state.
He spoke at a World Environment Day program organised by the Department of Forest, Ecology and Environment.
In order to replace plastic, the government would promote eco-friendly products manufactured in the cottage industries in villages. He lamented that people who wax eloquent on environment conservation, are out to destroy it.
