HK Patil to file CEC complaints against Modi

Last Updated 21 September 2018, 11:47 IST

The Congress will lodge a complaint with the Election Commission against Prime Minister Narendra Modi for "telling lies and misleading voters," H K Patil, the Congress candidate from Gadag Assembly constituency has said.

Addressing a press meet here on Sunday, Patil said that Modi had been "misleading" people by telling "blatant lies" in poll campaigns and this amounts to electoral malpractice. "A complaint will be filed with the Election Commission seeking action under the Representation of People Act and the Indian Penal Code," he said.

Patil claimed that Modi had been speaking about Mahadayi without having "proper information." Sonia Gandhi had clarified in 2007 itself that she had no objection to Mahadayi project. But it is fortunate the prime minister of the country has no minimum knowledge about the turn of events.

Similarly, it was the Yeddyurappa government which took the Mahadayi dispute to a tribunal. Suppressing this fact, Modi has been blaming the Congress. It was the Congress which secured permission for Kalasa-Banduri project, Patil claimed.
