Justice R Devadas has recused himself from hearing a petition filed by S Murthy, secretary, Karnataka Legislative Assembly, who was suspended on the charge of irregularities during the 2017 Belagavi legislature session.
Murthy has moved the Karnataka High Court against the Speaker challenging his suspension over financial irregularities.
Murthy was under the scanner after Speaker K R Ramesh Kumar ordered a probe into alleged irregularities in procuring services during the 2017 Belagavi session. The departmental enquiry had found Murthy guilty of the same, following which his powers were curtailed during the recent session in Belagavi.
