The High Court on Thursday issued a notice to the State government and Tumkur City Municipal Council in connection with pollution of Gundamanakere tank in Tumkur town.
Hearing a PIL by C N Chandrashekar, the Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Vikramajit Sen and Justice Aravind Kumar ordered the notice.
The petitioner had moved the High Court stating that the centuries-old tank had been a victim of illegal waste disposal and had sought directions to rejuvenate the water body spread across 11 acres.
