HDK misleading farmers on loan waiver: Yeddyurappa

Last Updated 17 December 2018, 16:15 IST

BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa on Wednesday accused Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy of misleading the state farmers on the demand for crop loan waiver.

Speaking to reporters, he said Kumaraswamy does not have commitment to bail out farmers in the state. “Hence he is buying time. All that Kumaraswamy wants is power. What is stopping him (Kumaraswamy) from announcing waiver of loans? Why is he buying time?,” the BJP leader said.

He warned that the BJP will intensify the protest against the state government if it fails to write off the loan within a week’s time. A meeting of BJP legislators will be called soon to draw up a plan for staging protest, he added.

Reacting to Yeddyurappa’s charges, Kumaraswamy said the BJP leader should stop indulging in petty politics. “It’s nothing but petty politics. He (Yeddyurappa) was invited for the meeting with the farmers. But he did not turn up. What stopped him from attending the meeting?” he asked.

Kumaraswamy said Yeddyurappa should stop talking lightly about him. People of the state are watching all developments. They will teach him an appropriate lesson in coming days, he warned.
