With Bhagamandala receiving about 18 cm of rain on Sunday, the Bhagamandala bridge is under water and "Triveni Sangama" near Bhagamandala inundated, official sources aid.

The near-flood situation in streams in Kodagu district has led to panic among parents whose children have to cross small wooden bridges to commute to schools and colleges.

District administration has instructed revenue officials to be on alert and posted them in various flood-prone areas in Virajpet and Somwarpet taluks, sources said.

Madikeri received about 10 cm of rainfall on Sunday while Kutta received about 7 cm, Srimangala about 10 cm, Ponnampet about 7 cm and Sunticoppa 6 cm.

Following heavy rain, compound walls collapsed and electric poles uprooted at Virajpet which resulted in road blocks. Water supply in this town and some other places has also been hit.

Despite the rains, arrival of tourists to this region which offers river water rafting among other adventure sports, has remained unaffected.
