Inquiry Commission on Haveri police firing submits report

State's Home Minister Dr V S Acharya received the report from former judge justice K Jagannatha Shetty, who conducted the probe. Acharya refused to divulge contents of the report, but said "the recommendations would be implemented".

Police opened fire on June 10, 2008 in Haveri to quell a group of farmers agitating for supply of fertilizers, leading to the death of two farmers and injuries to six others.The police firing, coming barely two weeks after the first ever BJP Government assumed office, drew sharp criticism from opposition parties, Congress and JDS.
