A teenage student was accidentally hurt while practising javelin throw at the Kerudi village government high school playground in Byadgi taluk, Haveri district, on Tuesday evening. He succumbed to injury on Wednesday.
Police said that Mallika (16) was seriously injured when the pointed edge of a javelin pierced him during sports practice on Tuesday. He was rushed to the Kims hospital in Hubballi in a serious condition but succumbed to injury on Wednesday morning.
The school remains closed on Wednesday as a mark of respect to the departed student. The Byadgi police have registered a case.
