With a section of disgruntled legislators threatening to raise the banner of revolt in the Congress-JD(S) coalition government in Karnataka, top Congress leaders from the state, including former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, will meet Congress president Rahul Gandhi to discuss how to address the issue on Wednesday evening.

Karnataka In-Charge General Secretary K C Venugopal, Karnataka Pradesh Congress President Dinesh Gundu Rao, Working President Eshwar Khandre, Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara, Panchayat Raj Minister Krishna Byre Gowda, will also attend the meeting, which will be held at Rahul' s residence on Tughlaq Lane.

"We are going to discuss the party candidates for the upcoming Karnataka Legislative Council polls," G Parameshwara told reporters soon after his arrival at the national capital.

The current political developments in the state and the next cabinet expansion issues will come up at the meeting, he said. However, "there is no threat to the government and it is stable," he said.

Separately, Siddaramaiah and Dinesh Gundu Rao met Karnataka In-Charge General Secretary K C Venugopal and held a discussion.

Though leaders refused to reveal what transpired at the meeting, sources said that they discussed the legislators' demands and the current political issues.

Prior to Rahul's meeting, the state leaders were trying to hash out the crises, according to a leader who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

With Municipal Administration Minister Ramesh Jarkiholi threatening to quit the party if he is not made the Deputy Chief Minister in the next Cabinet, the leaders are in a bind trying to decide whether they should agree to his demand.

The party leaders also discussed several other leaders' demands with the party top brass.
