Ajjampura railway station presents a sorry picture

Last Updated 28 May 2015, 18:19 IST

Lakhs of funds sanctioned for construction of railway station in Ajjampura has been of little use, allege public.

After completion of concretisation in the area behind railway station, used for parking vehicles and road that connects to Siddarameshwara circle, necessary step of ‘curing’ had not taken place, it is said.

As a result, after month of completion of work, the cement layer on top of the concrete is gradually separated and also the gravel used for the roads have come out damaging the roads.

The people alleged that the compound walls built on one of the platforms are of poor condition as the construction of the base was not strong. Also, stones and sand used for construction were of poor quality which has resulted in developing cracks on the walls of the compound. Even though it has been just three months since the construction, the tiles used have already been broken and a few of them have even come out.

Due to lack of cement between the tiles, there are weeds growing out from the tiles.
The construction of seats below the shed and the construction of overbridge for the convenience of the passengers has been seeing little progress. Also, a complaint has been filed that no work is being made to provide drinking water and toilet facilities to the passengers.

The public have urged the railway authorities to pay visit to the railway station and examine the work during construction and take action against the people who are not efficient and appoint better workers who will take up the responsibility to complete the work efficiently.

The authorities had appointed workers to fulfill the needs in response to the public appeal of providing basic facilities at the railway station. The slow progress in the construction has caused discontentment among the public.
