Here is some good news for swimming enthusiasts. Henceforth they need not have to go to places like Bangalore, etc, to learn swimming. Thanks to the brand new pool that is set to be inaugurated on May 14.

The State Government has constructed a new swimming pool in the premises of Sir M Visvesvaraya to encourage swimming in the district. The new swimming pool is all set to be open on May 14. The swimming pool is constructed scientifically and it meets all the international standards. State-level, national-level and international-level swimming competitions can be conducted here.

With the opening of the swimming pool, the long-pending demand of the people of this district has now been fulfiled. Curious citizens are making a beeline everyday to take a look at the swimming pool and are all eager for the inauguration programme.

The pool has all the facilities and is constructed at a cost of Rs 1.80 crore. Children and elders can have great time and is going to be extremely beneficial to the sportspersons in the district, said official of the Department of Youth Services and Sports Rayappa, speaking to Deccan Herald.

Training programmes

Apart from Bangalore, no other City has such a huge swimming pool. It is 60-metres long and also it is six-feet deep. Training programmes can also be organised for the benefit of sportspersons.

An amount of Rs 20 lakh has been spent for the construction of a compound around the pool. Seating arrangements have been made around the swimming pool for the spectators to watch the contests. Almost all the preparations for the inauguration of the swimming pool are over, except for a few touch-up here and there, he added.

The district administration will soon fixing the fees for the swimming pool. Also, it will be soon appointing staff towards it maintenance and administration.

Supervisors, life guards, managers and assistant staff will be soon appointed. The recruitment process of the entire staff will be completed as early as possible.

The people of Chikkaballapur are thrilled to have a pool. An otherwise dryland, Chikkaballapur district is deprived of water and irrigation. By developing the district and upgrading the facilities here to conduct various sports activities, is indeed a great leap towards progress.

The swimming pool has brought a lot of cheer to the district’s sportspersons. Since it has come in the stadium premises, it is even more useful for one and all. Apart from these facilities, the district administration is also planning on the lines of providing trekking facility at the stadium and also various other sports and recreation facilities, phase by phase, for the benefit of the people.
