Congress, BJP to raise donations for flood victims

According to a press release, the decision was taken at a meeting held under the presidentship of Kota Srinivas Poojary. MLA Raghupati Bhat will launch the padayatra at 2 pm. 

Party’s MLAs and leaders will lead the “padayatra” in important places of the district on October 7 and 8.  MLAs, MLCs, members of zilla panchayat and taluk panchayats, city and town municipal councillors, APMC heads, and gram panchayat members will contribute their one month’s honourarium to the flood relief fund.
 The party has decided to help 10,000 families with clothes, the release said. As part of the drive, party will also send 1,000 sarees, 1,000 dhothi, 1,000 blankets to the state government at the earliest.


In Dakshina Kannada

Dakshina Kannada BJP unit has decided to collect food grains and donations from people for distribution among the flood affected people in North Karnataka. The members have started padayathra from Monday.

Congress

Dakshina Kannada district Congress Committee and District Youth Congress will raise funds for the victims of flood in North Karnataka on Tuesday.  Addressing a press meet on Monday,  DCC Vice-President Ivan D’Souza said the fund raising event will be inaugurated at DCC office by MLA B Ramanath Rai at 3 pm. Through padayatra, they will visit Bunder, Carstreet, Surathkal, Kavoor areas.
