DC lists out expenditure sensitive constituencies in district

Deputy Commissioner, also District Election Officer, D Randeep, on Monday, said that he has sent a list of the Assembly segments in the districts to be declared as 'Expenditure Sensitive Constituencies' (ESC) to the Election Commission.

In a press conference, at the Deputy Commissioner's office, here, he said, the Election Commission has decided to identify ESCs to monitor the expenditure during the elections.

"The district has 11 constituencies and the names of a few constituencies have been recommended to be declared as ESCs. Once a constituency is declared as ESC, more number of security personnel, including flying squads, will be deputed. ESCs are the Assembly segments where money power will be more than the norms," he said. However, the DC declined to disclose the list of the constituencies.

Deletion of names

The DC said that from now, the names of the voters will be deleted from the voter list only after prior permission of the Election Commission. No mass deletion will be done, he added.

When asked about the alleged irregularities in the voters list of K R Assembly segment, the DC said, a person has submitted 4,000 applications to the Zonal Office to include the names in the list. "But, the applications are not processed. An investigation is on as to how he got such number of applications. A criminal case will be filed against the culprits, even if it is an official," he said.

Polling centres

The DC said, the district will have 2,687 polling stations and the repair works of the centres will be completed before March first week. According to him, as many as 43 centres will be shifted to new buildings.

Check on malpractice

In order to check electoral malpractices during the election, the district administration will launch social sites and the people can register their complaints on WhatsApp, Twitter and other sites.

Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer P Shivashankara, and Mysuru City Corporation Additional Commissioner Ravindra were present.
