DD's quiz, music show in city today

Doordarshan’s popular programmes ‘That Antha Heli’ and ‘Madhura Madhuravee Manjula Gaana’ would be conducted in city on June 17 at Nadamantapa on Ooty road.

Addressing a press meet here on Saturday, deputy director general of Doordarshan Mahesh Joshi said the quiz programme ‘That Antha Heli’, which was started on January 4, 2002 is completing 2,000 episodes and would be at 10 am. It is a popular programme, emphasising on literature, art, folk, culture of Kannada. Kannada books are given as prizes to winners.

Until now the quiz has witnessed about 6,000 participants and has entered into Limca Book of Records for being broadcast continuously without break, he added.

Detailing on the music programme ‘Madhura Madhuravee Manjula Gaana,’ to be held at 6 pm at the same venue, Joshi said it was dedicated to devotional songs and is being conducted in city for the second time.

About 50 selected among the participants of audition rounds, 22 have reached the finals and five of them are from Mysore. “One participant is visually impaired.”
He said dance would be performed by five troupes, among which one is of special children of a local school.

Many programmes to highlight folk culture is broadcast by the channel among which a programme on saint Shishunala Sharif is conducted in various districts. “Many programmes related to folk and rural culture would come up in association with Karnataka Folklore University,” Joshi said.
