Last Updated 17 December 2015, 15:21 IST

Give a thrust to schemes encouraging the installation of solar units, Zilla Panchayat CEO P I Srividya told banks on Wednesday.

Chairing the district level review committee meeting for banking development at the Zilla Panchayat in Mangaluru on Tuesday, she said banks should make available schemes that create awareness on tapping solar energy. These schemes should be oriented towards domestic purposes and not commercial.

Srividya directed the banks to submit action plans in this regard to the review committee before the end of December and asked them to hold taluk level awareness camps. There are 4,20,000 households in the district and every branch should set a target to provide loans up to Rs one crore, towards the installation of roof-top solar units at houses.

Low CD ratio

The ZP CEO, meanwhile, noted that except for some, several banks have recorded very low CD ratio, especially in the semi-urban areas. She told the banks to concentrate upon MSME (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) and farm sectors. These sectors should be highlighted in the action plan, she added.

As on September 30, the disbursement under Pri mary/Farm sector is Rs 1,495.25 crore against an annual target of Rs 3,915.16 crore. About 38.19 per cent of the annual disbursement target has been achieved. Disbursement under Secondary/MSE sector was Rs 872.32 crore in the district, against the annual target of Rs 1,507.71 crore, recording an achievement of 57.88 per cent. The disbursement in Tertiary sector, which includes education loans, housing loans and loans to self employed was Rs 806.65 crore against the annual target of Rs 2,856.77 crore, showing an achievement of 28.23 per cent.

Lead Bank Manager Raghava Yajamanya, Syndicate Bank Regional Office DGM Narendranath Kamath, Reserve Bank of India, Bengaluru, AGM Lakshmipathi and Nabard AGM Prasad Rao were present on the occasion.
