Expenditure statement must, EC tells candidates

The district administration has appointed nodal officers to keep a track on the candidates in the district. As per the norms, each TP candidate is allowed to spend only ` 50,000 and it is ` one lakh limit for ZP candidate. The candidates must maintain the expenditure statement right from the day of filing nomination up to the completion of election process. Everyday, they should give the expenditure statement to the nodal officers concerned.

Besides, they should also file another detailed list of amount spent on elections after one month of completion of election process. In case they failed to submit the same, such candidates would be disqualified to contest elections in coming years, the release warned.

The candidates must collect the receipts after submitting final expenditure statement.
The amount spent for printing handbills, posters, flex, buntings, releasing audio-video cassets and advertisements in both print and electronic media, number of vehicles used and fuel bills and money spent for organising procession and other costs must be mentioned clearly while submitting the details.  Meanwhile, the district administration has identified 151  sensitive polling booths  and 77 as hyper-sensitive booths, out of the total 719 polling booths, in all taluks.
