The target was to construct 8 lakh houses to poor in 2010-12

Speaking to presspersons at Birur on Sunday, he said “about 30,000 houses were distributed to the flood victims. Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa will flag off a programme to distribute 2,000 houses in Hubli. The Aasare yojane is being implemented in 450 acres land.”

Owing to various impediments, the work on housing scheme could not be implemented effectively in the State. There is lack of will power among the officials, he said.

The Minister said that 15,000 km rural roads will be developed at a cost of Rs 13,000 crore. The government will release funds. However, the officials must implement the schemes, he added.

The government has directed the officials to submit a list of houseless and siteless by June 30. It has been decided to distribute 6,000 sites in Kadur taluk. The authorities have been directed to purchase land from private in case if the government land was not available for distribution.
