Hassan DC insists on rainwater harvesting

Deputy Commissioner R Girish said that the youths should be encouraged to take measures for rainwater harvesting.

After releasing a poster on the theme ‘Catch the Rain’, in Hassan on Thursday, the DC said, “The youth should educate the people on the importance of saving water. If the people waste water, thinking that it is an easily available resource, free of cost, the situation may turn worse. In future, it would become inevitable for them to fight, to get water, even for drinking purpose.”

Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer B A Paramesh explained the importance to save water and urged the people to construct check dams, recharge pits, collect water on roofs of houses and other buildings.

He said, the youths should be encouraged to join hands to protect water bodies like lakes and ponds to save water.

Nehru Yuva Kendra district coordinator Abhishek and volunteer B T Manav were present.
