Heavy rains lash Kodagu, C'magalur

Kerekatte records 226.6 mm and Shanthalli receives 206.2 mm rainfall

Monsoon has intensified in Kodagu and Chikmagalur on Saturday. Shanthalli in Kodagu district has received highest of 206.2 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours.

Land slide on Mukkodlu-Hammiyala road near Madikeri disrupted movement of vehicles. If the district continues to receive rainfall, then a hanging bridge across Hattihole which provides connectivity between Mukkodlu-Emmethalu will be inundated.

Flood water has entered into fields and plantations. The retaining wall of a house belonging to Preetham at Iguthappa layout was partially collapsed. The houses belonging to Shanthamma, Jayamma have been partially damaged at Banavara village.

 The roof of a house was damaged when a tree fell on the house of Dharmappa at Nandigunda. Houses were also damaged at Aigooru, Karangadooru and Kadanoor.

The district received an average of 95.02 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours. It was 4.31 mm rainfall during the corresponding period last year. Kodagu district has received an average of 1,777.16 mm rainfall since January.  

Chikmagalur

Malnad region received copious rainfall. Kerekatte in Sringeri taluk has received highest of 226.6 mm rainfall and Panchanahalli received lowest of 7.3 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours.

A house belonging to Jainabi was partially damaged at Halemandagadde Circle. Koppa taluk has received record rainfall in the last one week.  Tributaries of Thunga river are pverflowing in Koppa taluk. Koppa-Kammaradi road has been inundated at Bhandigadi. Kapila river is overflowing on Kanoor, Kattinamane connecting road at Kuduregundi. Electric wires have been damaged when a tree fell at Balagadi. As a result, power supply to Koppa town was disrupted for a whole day.

Koppa taluk has received an average of 110.9 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours. Intermittent rainfall has affected paddy cultivation in the taluk.
