JD(S) has bagged 6 seats in the election to the Board of Directors of Kodagu District Central Co-operative Bank on Friday. Meanwhile, BJP has given a neck and neck fight by securing victory in 5 seats out of 11 posts against the JD(S) - Congress coalition.

JDS is moving towards dominating the Directors’ Board as it could bag three seats through drawing lots. However, JD(S) needs one more seat to prove its majority. Hence, the decision of nominated directors will play an important role. Ketolira Harish Poovaiah, Muddanda B Poovaiah and Kishorkumar A Thaloor of BJP had won in the election held for the Primary Co-operative Societies and Ware Houses in the Madikeri taluk. Meanwhile, all the 3 seats in the Virajpet taluk were bagged by JD(S). Former bank president Mathanda A Ramesh, Shanthu Appaiah and Lava Kushalappa were the winning candidates from Virajpet taluk.

While BJP candidate Ballaranda M Mani was elected from Somwarpet taluk, JD(S) candidates B K Chinnappa and S B Bharath Kumar were chosen through drawing lots. Prema Somaiah of JD(S) also had won through lottery in the election held for the Town Co-operative Banks and Non-agricultural Development Co-operative Societies constituency. BJP’s M A Bose Devaiah was elected to the constituency of other Co-operative Societies. JD(S) candidate B K Chinnappa and BJP’s B D Manjunath had bagged 8 votes each in Somwarpet taluk. Hence, the final decision was taken based on drawing lots. JD(S) candidate S B Bharathkumar and M N Komarappa of BJP too had bagged 8 votes each.

Similarly, JD(S) candidate Prema Somaiah and BJP candidate M K Somaiah also bagged 10 votes each in Town Co-operative Bank and Non-agricultural Development Co-operative Societies constituency. JD(S) was blessed that results in all the 3 constituencies came in favour of them through drawing lots.

Two candidates fielded by Congress and JD(S) on coalition basis tasted defeat.
