Taking a dig at his arch rival, ex-chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, former prime minister H D Deve Gowda alleged that Karnataka Janata Party was a result of a collusion between Yeddyurappa, who floated the party and Congress to contain JD(S) in the State.

Speaking to reporters after visiting the famous Ganesha Temple at Kurudumale in the taluk on Saturday, he said that the Legislative Assembly will be desolved in three months paving the way for fresh elections.

On issue of workers quitting the party in Hassan, Gowda said that the workers were free to go where they wanted. “The party will not be affected in anyway,” he added.

Replying to a question on the chances of the KJP in the next elections, Gowda expressed confidence that the party will be defeated comprehensively.

Temple visit

Gowda visited famous Anjaneya temple in Mulbagal. Thousands of JD(S) workers were waiting to welcome the party supremo from as early as 7 am.

Preparations had been made to give Gowda a traditional Poornakumba welcome. However, Gowda arrived only by 11 am and spent nearly half-an-hour at the temple.

Kolar former legislator K Srinivas Gowda, Taluk JD(S) president Alangur Shivanna, leaders Munianjinappa, G M Govindappa, Adinarayana, Chikkavenkatappa, Zilla Panchayat member Shyamegowda, Raghupati Reddy, RMC Director Kurudumale Manjunath, Gangireddy and others were present on the occasion.
