Kodagu rain loss put at Rs 74 crore

 The process of assessing the rain loss in the past one week is also in progress.

The recent rains have put both agriculturists and horticulturists into trouble. Government buildings, bridges, culverts and drainages have also been damaged.
The Panchayat Raj Engineering Department has incurred a loss of Rs 3269 lakh, the PW Department has incurred a loss of Rs 2515.15 lakh, Madikeri CMC Rs 542.80 lakh, Minor Irrigation Department Rs 467 lakh, and Chescom has incurred a loss of Rs 127.87 lakh due to various damages.

As a result of damages to roads, bridges and supporting walls, the Virajpet Town Panchayat has experienced a loss of Rs 110 lakh while Somwarpet Town Panchayat a loss of Rs 104.80 lakh.

Crops in an area of 218 hectare have been damaged causing a loss of Rs 69.20 lakh. As many as 670 hoses have been damaged causing a loss of Rs 65.05 lakh.

As a result of damages to Kushalnagar Town Panchayat Rs 65 lakh loss has been incurred.
Totally the district has experienced a loss of Rs 7465.81 lakh till the end of September, the district administration stated.
