Sanjay Gupta, chairman and managing director of the Konkan Railway, inaugurated a training programme on soft skills for youth in town on Monday.

The programme was organised at the Community Hall of Konkan Railway Staff Colony near Udupi Railway Station, while the training sessions will be conducted at the venue on alternate days from 5 pm to 7 pm. The training duration for the first batch will be till February 23 – excluding weekends and government holidays. The dates for the subsequent batches will be announced from time to time.

Gupta has decided to start the training programme for the local youth along its railway route as per the vision of the Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu, for developing skills of the youth of the Konkan region. The training is aimed at young people who have passed SSC, HSC, diploma or graduation. This is the first initiative under the aegis of ‘Ramakrishna Hegde Skills Development Centre’ of Konkan Railway.

Training on soft skills, like spoken English, interview techniques, etiquettes, communication skills, neuro leadership, art of writing curriculum vitae (biodata) etc – which will sharpen the interpersonal skills of the trainees, improve their personality and give them the cutting edge while appearing for interviews and working in teams – will be imparted to the participants.
