KSCA Cricket Academy to open on December 10

Kumble, Srinath to attend the inauguration at Adyar

Karnataka State Cricket Association’s new venture, the RC-KSCA Academy, will be inaugurated at Sahyadri Engineering College campus in Adyar on December 10, at 11 am


Nitte University Vice-Chancellor Dr Shantharam Shetty will open the Academy for nurturing cricket talents in the Mangalore Zone of KSCA, which consists of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Kodagu districts. KSCA President Anil Kumble, Secretary Javagal Srinath, Managing Committee members Sudhakar Rao, J Abhiram will also present at the function.

Addressing press persons on Wednesday in Mangalore, Karnataka State Cricket Association  Mangalore Moffusil Zone Convener Dr Srikanth Rai said that the Academy will serve as the centre of excellence of cricket in coastal area and is equipped with modern facilities. “The players can develop and shine their skills with the guidance of experienced coaches and past and present players at the Academy,’ he said.


Dr Srikanth Rai said that the KSCA Mangalore Moffusil Zone will be conducting a number of tournaments in all its constituent districts this year. The KSCA Third Division tournament concluded on November last week.

Vivekananda Sports Club beat Attackers Sports Club in the final to crown the championship.

KSCA Inter-School tourney will commence in all the three districts in the Mangalore Zone (Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Kodagu) simultaneously from December 12 onwards. This will be followed by Inter-collegiate tournament (introducing for the first time) in January.

KSCA First Division league championship and second division league championship will be starting soon after the inter-collegiate matches.

KSCA is also planning infrastructure development in Mangalore and Moodbidri and will be completed by next year, he said.

Dakshina Kannada Cricket Association Managing Committee members Mahabala Marla, Dr Anand, Assistant Secretary(Tournaments)Venugopal Kaikamba were also present at the function.
