KSCA to develop Maharaja's cricket grounds

The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Mysore for the construction of another cricket stadium in the city, on Monday.

Under the MoU, the Maharaja’s College Cricket Grounds will be developed by KSCA. The MoU was signed by UoM registrar C Basavaraju and KSCA secretary Brijesh Patel, in the presence of VC K S Rangappa and KSCA president R Ashokanand.

Speaking at the programme, Patel said, the KSCA was planning to construct a stadium in all districts.

“We will meet the Chief Minister and request him to allot land for the purpose. There are many young talents in Mysuru, so, the KSCA is working to provide a good forum for such talent in all districts,” he said.

As per the MoU, following the development of the cricket stadium, the KSCA will maintain it for a period of 23 years. “The manner in which the ground will be developed, expenses incurred for it and other details will be chalked out by an expert committee. Shortly, there will be a standard cricket stadium to train youngsters,” he said.

Rangappa said, the Maharaja’s College Cricket Grounds will be developed in the same manner in which the KSCA has developed Gangothri Glades, currently known as Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar Stadium. He said, that the new stadium will be another feather in the cap of the varsity during its centenary celebrations.
